Processing steps involved in corn flakes making
Flaking Machine (Roller): The most critical part, it flattens the pellets into thin, crisp flakes. Cooked corn kernels are instantly pressed into extremely thin and uniform sheets by two large, precision rollers. The gap between the rollers determines the thickness of the chips (typically 1.2-2.0 mm).
Drying/Toasting Machine: Removes moisture and toasts the flakes to create a crunchy texture. This step not only removes moisture but also gives the corn chips their signature golden color and crispy texture through the Malad reaction.
Seasoning/Coating Line: Depending on flavor requirements, syrups, chocolate, or added vitamins and minerals are sprayed on at this stage for fortification.
Cooling & Packing System: After being cooled by cooling rollers, the finished product is weighed by an automatic packaging machine and sealed in moisture-proof bags.
