How Corn Flakes Machines Work: From Maize to Crispy Cereal

Ever thought how those delicious corn flakes which you have for breakfast are produced? So here we’ll examine the fascinating process of how corn flakes equipment does that and transforms this corn into the crunchy cereal that we all know and love.

The first process in the production of corn flakes is harvesting the corn and transforming it into flour.

Corn is a major cereal crop that is grown in several countries. Corn is harvested then dried and ground to a fine powder. Corn grist is a primary ingredient in the production of corn flakes.

Then, the corn flour is combined with water, sugar, salt, and other additives, creating a thick paste.

This batter is fed into a device known as an extruder, where the batter is cooked. The extruder is a unique corn flakes machine, which cooks the ingredients and hardens the corn flakes through heat and pressure.

The batter is cooked at high temperature and pressure in the extruder.

This helps to convert the corn flour and produces the flaky texture we love. As the batter bakes, it’s forced through a form that makes the corn flakes resemble the shape we’re now familiar with.

After being cooked, the corn flakes are flattened and toasted to achieve their distinctive texture and flavor.

The flat corn flakes pass through rollers to be compressed into thin sheets. These sheets are toasted in an oven, which imparts the corn flakes with their golden hue and snaps.

The corn flakes are cooled to ambient temperature are after toasting and packed.

From there, the corn flakes are conveyed to a packing machine. This corn flakes making machine gently portions out the perfect quantity of corn flakes and seals them within bags or boxes. The corn flakes are then packed and shipped off to stores for you to enjoy at your home.

Prior to being packaged, the corn flakes are also checked to make sure they are of good quality.

Samples are tested in a lab making sure they’re crispy, delicious and good looking.
